Dear District 45 Community,
At its June 16 meeting, our Board of Education discussed possible tax rate options following their unanimous recommendation to pursue a limiting-rate referendum this November.
Following the discussion, the board decided to request a rate of 0.267%. This rate maintains the March referendum projections of a $299 per year, or $25 per month impact for the average district homeowner. The board believes this recommendation would help address the district’s most critical needs while also recognizing the financial impact any increase would have on families and community taxpayers.
This recommendation is another important step towards addressing our current funding gap in a responsible and sustainable manner. It would enable District 45 to remain fiscally responsible, restore essential programs and supports for students, and continue providing the high-quality educational experience our community values and our students deserve.
As we share more information about the referendum, our goal is to fully engage the community and help residents stay informed. The most effective path forward requires clear and candid communication and collaboration among all District 45 residents.
Again, I welcome the opportunity to connect with community members, answer questions and listen to feedback. I look forward to working together to ensure all stakeholders have the information they need to make an informed decision.
Sincerely,
Brian Graber, Ed.D.
