School District 45 invites the community to submit ideas for naming the D45 Early Childhood Center.
Community members can submit name suggestions online or in person at the Early Childhood Center through Feb. 10. A committee will review submissions and develop a shortlist of 5-8 submissions, which will be shared with the community for their feedback.
“As our Early Childhood Center neared completion, our Board of Education intentionally postponed a quick decision on the name and instead focused on opening the Center and assuring it was ready to provide services to our youngest learners immediately,” said Superintendent Dr. Brian Graber. “They knew that once the Center was open, they could revisit the name of the building at an appropriate time and invite the community to participate.”
The committee will recommend three names to the Board of Education, with the Board of Education making a final decision in March. Submissions are open to all District 45 community members, including students, parents, staff, and school district residents. Ideas can be submitted at https://ecc.d45.org/naming.
“We look forward to receiving creative and meaningful suggestions that honor our community and inspire our children,” said Dr. Graber.
The D45 Early Childhood Center opened in August 2022 and serves about 175 students. The program teaches the District’s youngest students the foundational skills necessary to be successful learners throughout their academic careers.
The preschool program provides a continuum of services for children with special needs and preschool programming for children considered to be at-risk learners due to financial or environmental factors present in their lives.
